Oh man, it’s nice to be back! I’ve been very bad at writing lately, but it’s really just been a crazy end of Feb and March. I’ve been super busy with my day job, and obviously spending time with my sweet babe and lots of family events. I’m so excited because we are going to Costa Rica this week and i’ll be on vacation – finally – for 11 days! So, before I go, I really wanted to share with you my latest series called Three Ways to Wear It.
This series was born out of the constant questions I get about how to create versatility in some seemingly not-so versatile, but very trendy pieces. How many times have you bought that really on-trend piece, like leather leggings, fringe, thigh-high boots, and have had issues with wearing it more than one way?I feel your pain ladies, the struggle is real! This is where I come in. I will be taking these uber-trendy pieces and providing you three ways to wear them – for work, for day and for a night out.
Seeing as how it is now officially Spring, I wanted to pick a very spring-friendly item. This first “episode” of the series is all about Midi skirts! Midi skirts have become a staple in most women’s wardrobes since last spring/summer, but many women are still very hesitant about how and when to wear them.
I was lucky enough to work with my friend Kaylay on this shoot! She is a very talented Toronto photographer, with such a great eye! You can see more of her work here.
Midi-Skirt – The Night Look
I love this look. Its edgy, its sexy and its so on-trend. I took a very floral midi-skit, and gave it a layer of edge by pairing it with a moto jacket, booties with chains and an edgy clutch. Add in some sparkle on top and you’ve got yourself a dancing outfit for a night with the girls.

Midi-Skit – The Work Look
Who would have thought you could wear a cute puffy midi-skirt to work?! I did! Even though this skirt if arguably bigger and has more structure than the last, it was really easy to take corporate by adding on a basic tank, a blazer and some work appropriate heels. My advice for the work options would be to simplify and add some corporate pieces. This can also be done with a cardigan, but I prefer the blazer because it feels more work and less baby shower.

Midi-Skirt – The Day Look
The midi-skirt is perhaps most suited for the day look due to its whimsical nature. It is an easy piece to wear to any day event – baby/bridal shower, birthday party etc. It was pretty cold out when we did this shoot, so I decided to pair this skirt with a beautiful blush cropped sweater. I added a pair of wedges to keep it fun and casual. I’ve also done this with a grey sweater and pumps in this post.
