Now that summer is fully upon us, I thought it only fitting to write a post about a very summery, yet intimidating wardrobe piece: the white jean. If you haven’t already read my first post of this series (three ways to wear: midi-skirts), what are you waiting for? Go read it now!
I remember a few years back, when white jeans started to become mainstream again, their was horror for many women who lived through the last time they were in style. I heard it all: I can’t wear these, all my cellulite will show!; I’m too old for white jeans; I have children – enough said! and I’ll wear them once and never put them on again.
Well, it certainly doesn’t have to be that way. I can vouch for having all of the above issues, but i’m still able to find a way to wear my white jeans on a Saturday at the market, to a business meeting at work and out for a date night with the hubby.
I’m hoping with my little visual tutorial below, you’ll feel really inspired to not only buy a pair of white jeans, but to sport them like its 1999!
The Night Look
It’s hard to imagine that you can wear such a light, day-colour at night, but trust me you can! I love this look so much! It is by far my favourite of the series – yes, even mothers have a favourite ;). I picked this beautiful navy silk top, half tucked in, and added a pair of killer heels – in this case my black Louboutin’s. Accessorize with some jewels and an edgy clutch and BAM! Night look. You can even add a fitted leather jacket to complete the look.
The Day Look
This look is perhaps the easiest to pull off with white bottoms – the more casual day look. I choose to pair them with an oh-so vibrant silk tank and some really fun mega wedges that I bought in London many years back. This look works really well with a tee and sneakers as well. For the day look, I prefer my jeans with a rolled up hem, but you can certainly wear them rolled down.
The Work Look
I like to throw in a work look because most of us work 5 out of the 7 days of the week, so it’s important to purchase pieces that can transcend both the workplace and our everyday home lives. If you’ve read my other posts, like how to accessorize like a super model, you’ll know that my work look usually involves pairing your outfit with a nice blazer and killer heels. This is no different. I picked a simple black top, tucked it into my white jeans, paired with blazer, heels and added a beautiful scarf as a bonus. This look is perfect, with or without the scarf. Pro-tip: don’t forget your belt when you’re tucking in your shirt.
